Snack time presents the biggest challenge for people dealing with cholesterol, but the good news is you can make some very simple substitutions that allow you to curb your hunger between meals without contributing to your overall cholesterol levels. In fact, a mix of dried fruit and nuts can actually be an incredibly filling snack that also happens to lower your overall cholesterol levels.

Most people run into problems when it comes to dinner time and the tendencies overeat. Again, if you are able to snack smart then you can keep your metabolism going in between meals while suppressing your hunger levels. As for dinner itself, stay away from things like fatty red meats and watch how you prepare your dishes as well. Fish is an excellent food that will help to lower your cholesterol, but you are doing yourself any favors if you choose to cook it drenched in butter. There’s no need to deprive yourself of red meat, egg yolks, or dairy products completely, but you should work towards a goal of overall nutrition so that you don’t get too much of one thing. Ideally, you want to have a full balanced diet filled with protein, foods high in iron, and essential minerals and vitamins necessary for your overall health.
